On the July 29 broadcast, which also featured Nam Woo-hyun of INFINITE, host Jonathan brought up the topic of WANNA ONE, asking singer Ha Sung-woon, “*Any updates on how far the reunion has come?*”
Ha Sung-woon responded frankly: “To be honest, I don’t think we’ve taken even one step forward.” He went on to explain the main obstacles preventing the reunion. “Every time something starts to move, someone enlists. Then someone is discharged, and another one goes in. It keeps happening in cycles.“
He also mentioned that several members are now actively pursuing acting careers, stating, “Some of the members are focused on acting and are doing well. Because they’re doing well, they don’t feel the need to return to the group scene.“
WANNA ONE was a massively popular 11-member boy group formed through Mnet’s Produce 101 Season 2 in 2017. The group included Kang Daniel, Park Ji-hoon, Lee Dae-hwi, Kim Jae-hwan, Ong Seong-wu, Park Woo-jin, Lai Kuan-lin, Yoon Ji-sung, Hwang Min-hyun, Bae Jin-young, and Ha Sung-woon. They officially disbanded on January 27, 2019, after their contract ended.
Since then, discussions and hopes about a reunion have remained persistent among fans, with occasional performances and joint appearances fueling speculation. However, Ha Sung-woon’s remarks indicate that logistical challenges, particularly military service obligations and divergent career paths, have made a full-fledged comeback increasingly unlikely in the near term.
