Recently, a topic dunking on the manners and reactions of NewJeans’ fandom amid the ongoing controversy of Bang Si-hyuk and HYBE was published on the Korean forum Pann Nate, drawing significant attention.
In particular, the topic, which was titled “The realistic course of action for NewJeans’ Fandom”, advised fans that instead of cheering over HYBE and Bang Si-hyuk potentially going to jail, they should start a movement to raise money to support NewJeans members in paying off penalties.
“Even if Bang Si-hyuk ends up in jail, HYBE will probably not be affected at all”, the author also said.
Under the comment section, many netizens agreed with the topic, pointing out that NewJeans’ fandom has been acting irrationally, such as constantly bringing up Bang Si-hyuk’s going to jail whenever NewJeans is mentioned and lumping all those who criticize NewJeans as evil conspirators.
They also left comments like “Bunnies (fans of NewJeans) are not intelligent enough to understand this stuff”, “It’s funny how whenever NewJeans is mentioned, fans keep bringing up Bang going to jail. They are both going to fall together, so why even bother fighting over that?”, and “There’s not a single normal Bunnie left, as the sane ones has already left the fandom”.
Meanwhile, HYBE Headquarters was recently raided following the 400 billion won (approx 289.2 million USD) fraud allegation of its founder, Bang Si-hyuk. In response, HYBE urges fans and stockholders to remain calm amid such controversy and promises full cooperation with the investigation.
NewJeans members, who are still refusing to return to ADOR and HYBE, have also revealed mental health struggles amid their legal battle, sparking concerns from fans.
