The Seoul Central District Court’s Civil Agreement Division 41, presided over by Judge Jeong Hoe-il, is scheduled to proceed with the third round of arguments in the lawsuit filed by ADOR against NewJeans members (Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, Hyein). The agency seeks confirmation of the validity of their exclusive contracts.

This legal dispute began when NewJeans held an emergency press conference in November last year, publicly announcing the breakdown of trust with both ADOR and its parent company HYBE. The group declared the termination of their contracts, citing irreparable damage to their relationship with the agency.
In response, ADOR filed a lawsuit to confirm the contracts’ validity, along with a request for an injunction to prevent the members from engaging in independent activities or entering new advertising agreements. The court previously ruled in favor of ADOR by granting the injunction.

At the second hearing held last month, NewJeans’ legal representatives firmly rejected the possibility of reconciliation. Despite the judge’s encouragement to consider settlement, NewJeans’ side responded, “The trust has been completely destroyed. There’s no way to go back.” Meanwhile, ADOR left room for future discussions, stating that “once the court delivers its judgment, a settlement may become easier”

Currently restricted from pursuing independent activities, NewJeans recently marked their third debut anniversary in silence, with no significant activities amid the ongoing legal conflict.
