Currently training alone in his hometown, Brazil, the 24-year-old winger Antony has been granted extended leave by Manchester United to sort out his future. But the message from Antony has been consistent: he only wants Real Betis.

This sentiment is not just expressed behind closed doors. Antony has been actively posting images of himself in Betis’ green-and-white colors on social media, even going as far as to refer to himself as a “Real Betis forward.” His online behavior has sparked a frenzy among Betis supporters, further igniting speculation about a potential transfer. However, turning this dream into reality is far from straightforward.

Real Betis are reportedly struggling with financial constraints, and the fee required to secure Antony from Manchester United could break club records. Currently earning €5 million annually, Antony’s wage demands alone present a considerable challenge for the Andalusian club.

One possible solution being explored is a loan deal with an obligation to buy at the end of the 2025/26 season, on the condition that Manchester United subsidizes part of Antony’s salary during the loan period.

Manu Fajardo, Sporting Director of Real Betis, confirmed the club’s interest in reuniting with Antony but admitted the difficulties of such a deal: “We must all understand this is a very complicated operation. Given Antony’s performances during his time here, it’s not easy to finalize this negotiation.”

As the summer transfer window progresses, Betis fans remain hopeful that their Brazilian target will soon make a permanent return — and Antony seems just as eager to make that dream come true.
