What is Weverse?
Weverse is a fan community platform developed by WEVERSE COMPANY, a subsidiary of HYBE. It enables close communication between artists and fans, offering a wide range of services including commerce, media content, and live event features, making it the No.1 global fandom life platform.

Weverse supports global fandom with automatic translation in 15 languages and offers services such as online orders and in-person pickups for official merchandise linked to offline fan activities.
Additionally, Weverse Shop allows fans to purchase various products such as artist memberships, albums/merchandise, and online concert tickets.
History of Weverse Development
Weverse was first announced in October 2019 through an advertisement shown during “BTS’s Love Yourself: Speak Yourself” stadium tour, reaching an audience of 130,000 concertgoers and live-stream viewers. Weverse was initially launched in June 2019 as Weply, an e-commerce platform, which later became Weverse Shop. The platform also integrates content and features from V-Live, which was transferred to Weverse Company in January 2021 and officially terminated in 2023.

Weverse has expanded its services significantly, introducing key features like the Weverse mobile app and website, which launched in 2019 and 2020, respectively. The app gained rapid popularity, surpassing 10 million downloads by July 2020. In 2023, it introduced new features such as direct messaging (DM) and Artistpedia, a page offering comprehensive information about artists. The platform continues to grow and innovate, with ongoing updates to its interface and service offerings.
Weverse’s growth reflects the increasing importance of fan engagement in the digital age, where K-pop artists, such as BTS, focus on content ownership and monetization. By creating a dedicated platform for fan interaction, Weverse strengthens artist-fan relationships and provides a sustainable long-term business model for music labels.
Weverse Service Overview
Weverse offers a wide range of services designed to enhance interaction between K-pop artists and their global fanbases. The platform allows fans to engage with artists on a deeper, more personal level compared to traditional social media.
Fan Interaction & Content
Weverse provides a space for fans to communicate directly with their favorite artists, share content, and participate in discussions. Artists can post updates, photos, videos, and exclusive content, while fans can leave comments, share their thoughts, and interact with the posts.

The app supports multiple languages through automatic translations, ensuring that global fans can access and engage with content easily.
Paid Membership
Artists under HYBE LABELS and other Weverse artists offer paid memberships through Weverse Shop, with a one-year validity from registration. Some artists use a combination of continuous and term-based memberships, where the membership lasts one year from the start of the term.

Exclusive content like photos, videos, and audio marked “Membership Only” requires subscribing to the GLOBAL OFFICIAL FANCLUB MEMBERSHIP. Membership provides benefits such as priority ticket sales, merchandise access, and exclusive content, giving paid members preference. Members are marked with a badge and enjoy exclusive events and content.
E-Commerce & Weverse Shop
Weverse Shop offers fans the opportunity to purchase official merchandise, albums, and concert tickets. In addition, fans can join artist memberships and gain access to exclusive items or events.

Weverse also serves as an e-commerce platform, where fans can shop for a variety of goods related to the artists they follow.
Live Streaming & Events
Weverse hosts live streaming features, including concerts and fan meetings, where artists can engage with their fans in real-time. This service also integrates with V-Live, enabling seamless viewing of live performances, events, and broadcasts.

Direct Messaging (DM) & Artistpedia
In 2023, Weverse introduced the Direct Messaging feature, allowing fans to privately message their favorite artists.
Additionally, the Artistpedia feature was launched, offering a centralized location for fans to access detailed information about the artists, including their biography, music, and upcoming events.
Global Reach & Accessibility
Weverse supports 15 languages, making it accessible to fans around the world. The platform is continuously evolving, regularly introducing new features and updates to enhance the fan experience.
It also integrates with other fan activities, offering real-time information, merchandise sales, and event participation, establishing itself as a leading platform for global fandom culture.
Weverse’s Artists
Tomorrow X Together was the first artist to join the original version of Weverse on June 11, 2019, followed by BTS on July 1 and GFriend on August 1 of the same year. Since then, the platform has expanded significantly, with various artists from Hybe’s multi-label system, including SEVENTEEN, BOYNEXTDOOR, and LE SSERAFIM, joining the platform. Additionally, groups formed through HYBE’s joint venture projects, such as ENHYPEN, have also become part of the Weverse community.

In 2021, following Big Hit’s investment in YG Plus, artists from YG Entertainment, including BLACKPINK, WINNER, and TREASURE, began joining the platform. That same year, international artists under Universal Music Group, like Gracie Abrams, New Hope Club, and Jeremy Zucker, also started using Weverse as part of a formal partnership between Hybe and Universal Music.
On September 12, 2023, artists from SM Entertainment made the move to Weverse from their own platform, Kwangya Club, following an agreement between SM, Hybe, and Kakao Entertainment. This move came after a dispute over management rights within SM Entertainment.
In addition to artists from major K-pop labels, Japanese artists like XG, Yurina Hirate, AKB48, and Yoasobi have also joined the platform, further expanding Weverse’s global reach.
