On the afternoon of January 11, the 2024 KBS Drama Awards aired. KBS had held the award ceremony on December 31, but due to the national mourning period following the Muan Airport disaster, the event was not broadcast live. Instead, the pre-recorded footage was aired, with Jang Sung-kyu, Seohyun, and Moon Sang-min as hosts.
Best New Actresses: Hong Ye-ji & Han Su-a
The Best New Actress award was shared between Hong Ye-ji from “Love Song for Illusion” and Han Su-a from “Beauty and Mr. Romantic.”
Hong Ye-ji, from “Love Song for Illusion,” shared, “I am grateful to the director and writer for giving me the opportunity to play Yeon-wol.” She also expressed gratitude to her team, “I also want to thank the staff who treated me with kindness as the youngest. I appreciate (Park) Jihoon, Jiwoo unnie, and senior Hwang Seok-jeong who worked hard alongside me. I don’t think this award was given because I was good, but rather as a warm push to do better in the future.”
Previously, Hong Ye-ji played the role of Hye-yoon, a high school student who becomes involved in a criminal incident, in the movie “A Normal Family,” which premiered in October last year.
Han Su-a, from “Beauty and Mr. Romantic,” said, “I am grateful to the viewers who watched and shared the joy and tears in this 50-episode drama. I wish you a warm and happy New Year. I will continue to work hard.”
Best New Actors: Seo Beom-jun & Park Sang-nam
Seo Beom-jun from “Nothing Uncovered” expressed, “Ba-reun is a friend who lost a loved one due to an unfortunate incident and has been living with the burden of that pain. He lived as a character named Zeus for a long time because he didn’t want to be forgotten. Though I can’t fully understand, I won’t forget either.” He added, “I hope the cold winter ends soon and warm spring comes.”
Park Sang-nam from “My Merry Marriage” said, “This is an award that can only be received once in a lifetime. I am grateful to the seniors and teachers who created a good atmosphere that allowed me to perform without feeling intimidated. I would like to dedicate this honor to the ‘My Merry Marriage’ team.” He continued, “I will strive to be a humble and grateful actor.”
