According to Sina, the cremation ceremony of famous Chinese author Qiong Yao took place in Taiwan in a solemn and private setting, attended only by family members with limited media access. Unable to pay their respects in person, many Chinese officials and artists sent flower wreath tributes to honor the talented author. Among artists, actress Ruby Lin was the only one permitted by Qiong Yao’s family to bid farewell.
Ruby Lin arrived early with her assistant, visibly emotional despite wearing a mask. Her tear-filled eyes reflected her immense sorrow and grief over Qiong Yao’s passing. Lin’s haggard and dazed appearance concerned the public. Earlier, upon hearing the news of Qiong Yao’s death, Ruby Lin was reportedly in shock. According to ETtoday, she was overcome with sobs and unable to speak during an interview.
Meanwhile, Ruby Lin rose to stardom across Asia through her role as Xia Ziwei in “My Fair Princess”, a series penned by Qiong Yao. She regarded the late author as her career benefactor and consistently celebrated her birthdays and holidays with calls and gifts over the years.

On the other hand, Qiong Yao passed away at the age of 86 at her residence. Her body was discovered at 1:22 PM on December 4 (local time). In her farewell letter, Qiong Yao wrote, “Death is a journey we all must take and the final major event of life. I do not wish to succumb to fate or wither away gradually—I want to make the decision for this last great event.”

She emphasized that she chose to die as her body weakened, encouraging young people to live their lives to the fullest. She requested that no one mourn her passing, as it was her heartfelt wish.
Authorities confirmed there were no signs of foul play after an autopsy, and Qiong Yao’s body was released to her family. Her cause of death was identified as carbon monoxide poisoning.
