Jennie Quashes Conflict Rumors with CL, Shows Support For BABYMONSTER at 2NE1 Concert

Jennie's Attendance at 2NE1 Concert Proves No Discord Between YG's Girl Groups

On the 6th, Jennie posted several photos on her Instagram with the caption “Funday Sunday.”

In the released photos, Jennie is seen wearing brown long boots, a denim shirt, and a brown knit layered over it. She paired the outfit with a denim shoulder bag from Chanel, where she serves as an ambassador, while attending her labelmates – 2NE1’s concert.

Actress Yang Hye Ji was spotted next to her, catching attention. Yang Hye Ji, born in 1998 like Jennie, is an actress and shares many similarities with Jennie, including the same birth month of January and their debut year in 2016.

Notably, there had been many rumors suggesting that BLACKPINK did not have a good relationship with 2NE1. Previously, on DAY1 of the concert, BLACKPINK did not send a congratulatory video to their seniors, while many other artists had sent words of encouragement to the group on their anniversary.

In addition, the story of CL subtly “throwing shade” at Jennie on social media once became a topic of heated debate among fans. The incident began on November 12, 2018, when BLACKPINK’s Jennie released her debut solo track. Shortly after, fans noticed that CL had tweeted a cryptic message that read: “udontsendrabbitstokillatiger” (“Don’t send a rabbit to kill a tiger”).

Many believed that the former 2NE1 member was upset after being tagged by fans in posts sharing Jennie’s new release. This, coupled with the fact that CL felt abandoned by YG Entertainment while her junior group BLACKPINK received overwhelming attention, fueled speculation. The incident quickly sparked a major controversy online.

BLACKPINK’s Jennie was also spotted reacting to BABYMONSTER multiple times. At one point, she was caught recording their performance and appeared to mention that the group are her hoobaes (juniors), even referring to herself as their “eomma” (mother). She was also spotted dancing and singing along during their performance of “Sheesh.”

Prior to their debut, Jennie served as a mentor for BABYMONSTER, and it’s clear that her affection for them has remained strong to this day!

Therefore, Jennie’s presence in the audience indicates that there is no discord between the three girl groups of YG.

Meanwhile, Jennie has confirmed her comeback on the 11th with a solo single, having recently signed a partnership with Columbia Records, a major American record label. She also teased her comeback concept by posting a short video on social media with the message “CALLING ALL PRETTY GIRLS.”
