On September 27, Judge Lee Yoo-seob of the Seoul Western District Court’s 7th Summary Division issued a summary order of a 15 million won (approx 11,480 USD) fine to Suga, who had been summarily indicted for violating the Road Traffic Act by driving under the influence of alcohol.
This fine is the same as the amount previously requested by the prosecution.
A summary order is a procedure in which a fine or penalty is imposed based on a written trial when the charge is relatively minor. If Suga disagrees with the order, he can request a formal trial within seven days of receiving the notice.
Suga was summarily indicted on August 6 for driving an electric scooter under the influence on a sidewalk in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul. At the time, Suga’s blood alcohol content was found to be 0.227%, approximately three times the legal limit for license revocation (0.08% or higher).
