Sooyoung appeared on the YouTube channel “East Sea & Baekdu Eunhyuk” on Sep 9th, where she shared stories with Donghae and Eunhyuk about their time as trainees at SM Entertainment and their experiences during group activities.
Eunhyuk, reflecting on his time as a Super Junior trainee, shared, “I was given the role of starting the choreography with Siwon in our group. But one day, during practice, the training staff swapped my position with Siwon’s, moving me from the center to the edge.”
He confessed that this experience initially upset him, but after reviewing the performance, he realized, “I didn’t fit in that position.” He added humorously, “Their judgment was spot on!“
Sooyoung empathized with this, revealing that during Girls’ Generation’s promotions, Yoona, Yuri and Seohyun often took the center spots, leaving her feeling disappointed that she did not get the chance. She said, “As this kept happening during our promotions, I wondered if I could get a chance too.“
Specifically, Sooyoung mentioned her role in the hit song “Genie”, saying, “I also have legs, so I wondered why I wasn’t given the opportunity.”
She added, “Everyone knows Yoona is beautiful. But I wish I could have been given a chance as well.“

Sooyoung also mentioned plans for Girls’ Generation’s 20th-anniversary activities.
She said “Whenever we gather, we set a dress code. Recently, we wore white outfits to celebrate Tiffany’s birthday“, highlighting the strong bond between the members. Sooyoung showed her excitement for future group activities, “I really want us to do a full-group tour. We only have three years left until our 20th anniversary.”
