On September 2, Shin Woo-seok, the director of NewJeans’ hit music videos, stated, “It seems that the policies have changed with the new management at ADOR.”
As a result of ADOR’s request, all NewJeans music videos and related content that his company, Dolphiners Films. (tentative translation), worked on and uploaded, as well as future uploads, can no longer be made public.
He emphasized that the YouTube channels of Dolphiners Films. and Ban Hee-soo were primarily operated to archive their portfolio and that no profits were generated from the content. The videos were created with the intent of producing quality work for the fans, and the company did not benefit financially from them. However, due to ADOR’s new demands, all videos must be deleted, and collaboration with ADOR is no longer possible.
On the other hand, the “Ban Hee-soo” YouTube channel is part of NewJeans’ theory, simulating the perspective of the sixth friend holding the camera in the group’s “Ditto” music video. The Ban Heesoo channel frequently uploads videos of NewJeans and has attracted 652,000 subscribers.
Shin also expressed regret, saying, “There were projects we had promised to work on with NewJeans in the future, but we are unable to fulfill them. I feel sorry for the staff who worked tirelessly for months and, most importantly, for the fans who were eagerly waiting.”
According to another SNS update from Shin, various NewJeans videos, including “ETA Directors’ Cut” and Apple’s ‘iPhone 14 Pro Global Commercial”, among others, which were supposed to be published on the YouTube channels Dolphiners Films. and Ban Hee-soo, will thus not be released.
Fans of NewJeans have since expressed distress over the news.
On the other hand, previously on August 27, ADOR removed CEO Min Hee-jin from her position and appointed Kim Joo-young as the new CEO. Although ADOR announced that Min would continue to handle NewJeans’ producing duties and remain as an internal director, Min Hee-jin contested this, stating that she was unilaterally dismissed and that the content of the contract offered to her for continuing her producing duties was unfair.
Additionally, the new CEO, Ju Young Kim, has expressed intentions to reinvestigate allegations of workplace harassment and sexual misconduct within ADOR, which Min Hee-jin was accused of covering up, aiming to uncover the truth behind these claims.
