It has been announced that Yoshihiro Togashi’s manga HUNTER×HUNTER will resume publication in the October 7th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump 2024, marking its return after a hiatus of approximately 1 year and 9 months. This news was revealed during the mini-information program Jump PRESS on the official Jump YouTube channel on August 19th at 8 PM. The latest chapter of HUNTER×HUNTER will be featured in the magazine’s 45th issue of 2024, following its last appearance in the magazine’s 4th/5th issue of 2023, which was released on December 26, 2022. Additionally, the cover image of the 38th volume, set to be released on September 4, was also unveiled.
Meanwhile, Gege Akutami’s manga Jujutsu Kaisen is set to conclude in 5 more chapters. The final chapter will be published in the September 30th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump 2024. Akutami expressed gratitude for the support from readers and mentioned that he is working hard to ensure that the final chapter meets the expectations of as many people as possible. To celebrate the conclusion, a massive free access campaign will be held. From August 19th at 8:10 PM, 245 chapters will be gradually made available for free on Shonen Jump+ and Zeblack. This is an opportunity for fans to experience the series from the very beginning.
In addition, a new manga award, the “Jump Next-Generation Battle Manga Award,” was announced. This award will focus on battle-themed stories and will be judged by a prestigious panel including Tite Kubo (BLEACH), Kohei Horikoshi (My Hero Academia), Yūki Tabata (Black Clover), and Gege Akutami (Jujutsu Kaisen). The submission period runs from October 1, 2024, to January 20, 2025. Winners of the award will receive a special benefit: one of the four judges will provide a recommendation comment for the winner’s series if it is published in Weekly Shonen Jump. To commemorate the award, Kohei Horikoshi has illustrated the main characters from each judge’s representative work.
