BTS’s RM Deletes SNS Post Amid Suga’s Controversy

BTS member RM drew attention when he deleted a post from his social media account amid Suga’s controversy.

On August 7, RM shared a post on his Instagram story titled “The Genius Community’s 25 Best Albums of 2024 So Far.” The post included a list of the top 25 albums of 2024 as selected by the American music media outlet Genius. RM’s solo second album, “Right Place, Wrong Person,” had made it to the top 10, and he shared the post to celebrate this achievement.

However, RM soon deleted the shared story. It seems that he was conscious of the controversy involving fellow member Suga’s drunk-driving incident.

Earlier, on the night of August 6 at around 11:15 PM (KST), Suga was caught driving a motorized bicycle while intoxicated in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, and was apprehended by patrolling police officers. Suga’s blood alcohol level at the time of detection was reportedly at the license revocation level (0.08%).

Initially, Suga and his agency claimed that he was using an “electric kickboard” at the time of the accident. However, CCTV footage revealed that Suga was actually riding an “electric scooter.”

This led to suspicions that the term “electric kickboard” was used to downplay the incident. The agency clarified, stating, “We described the product as an electric kickboard because we judged it to be a kickboard with a seat.”
