K-netizens List Idols Who Left Their Groups Due to Drunk-driving, Will BTS’s Suga be Next?

There are many male idols who left their groups after drunk-driving, causing criticisms to intensify towards BTS’s Suga.

On August 7, a topic titled “Male idols who left their group after drunk-driving in the past 4 years” was published on the Korean forum “theqoo”. This is right after BTS’s Suga’s controversy of drunk-driving while using an electric scooter was reported.

In particular, the topic listed AB6IX’s Im Young-min (June 2020), VICTON’s Heochan (October 2022), and DKB’s Teo (November 2023), adding that there seems to be at least 1 male idol that drives under influence every year, and that it’s almost a certain cause of withdrawal.

As a result, the case of BTS’s Suga draws heated debate as netizens discuss whether he will be the next “drunk-driving withdrawal” case.

Below are some comments from netizens:

  • Drunk-drivers tarnish the group image, so they should leave.
  • If the drunk-drivers don’t withdraw, their groups will become drunk driving groups, so withdrawal is almost certain
  • It’s really interesting that they’re all men
  • These days, everyone is leaving the group. I hope the person who had an accident today leaves quickly as well.
  • I don’t want to see any celebrities who drive drunk, whether they are idols or actors.
  • The 1st and 2nd generations didn’t withdraw and continued, but from the 3rd generation onwards, most of them withdraw when they are caught
  • Still, I doubt Suga will leave, BTS is an old group with a lot of fans
  • All the bastards who drive drunk and shamelessly try to make money while receiving love from fans should be kicked out.
