Lee Jong-suk Criticized for Poor Work Ethic? Suddenly Quitted K-drama with Kim Ji-won
A past incident revealing Lee Jong-suk’s alleged poor work ethic is resurfacing on Korean forums, drawing massive attention.
Recently, a topic titled “This exposé about Lee Jong-suk was covered up” was published on the Korean forum Instiz.
The topic linked an article and an old post about Lee Jong-suk quitting a K-drama with Kim Ji-won, leading to the project being canceled on the very day of script-reading.
In particular, the old post captured an employee’s lament about Lee Jong-suk’s poor work ethic, claiming the actor dropped out of the K-drama the evening before the script-reading.
“I’ve heard some negative rumors about Lee Jong-suk in the industry, like how he took forever to make decisions”, the employee wrote, adding, “To cancel on the day before script-reading, especially when Monday was the first day of shooting, is unacceptable. The script and books were already prepared. Not just the lead actors but also middle-aged actors were going to show up for the reading, and then they were told not to come in the morning.”
The same employee also directly criticized the actor, saying “If Lee Jong-suk wasn’t going to do it, he should have dropped out earlier, not on the day before the reading” and “Lee Jong-suk’s last-minute change affected everyone, causing a lot of people who were ready and prepared to lose their jobs.”
Meanwhile, a news article also covered the incident, confirming that Lee Jong-suk indeed canceled his appearance the day before the script reading of Netflix’s “See You Again” (tentative title) in May 2018. It also quoted remarks from officials in the industry, who said that “Lee Jong-suk tends to hesitate and change his mind a lot before signing the final contract”, making it difficult for production and broadcasting companies.
