BTS’s Jimin’s Father is Abusing Jimin’s Name for Profits?

Several actions of BTS’s Jimin’s father are being questioned by fans, leading to accusations of name abuse from profits.

Recently, many BTS fans are raising questions against the actions of BTS’s Jimin’s father.

In particular, while the parents of other BTS members like V and Jungkook are extremely private, Jimin’s father is frequently mentioned in the fandom due to his business ventures being closely tied to Jimin’s name.

Firstly, MAGNATE is a café owned by Jimin’s father, which opened in 2019 in Busan, South Korea. While opening a business is common among many idol parents, Jimin’s father is notably trend-savvy. Besides displaying items related to his son, he doesn’t hesitate to leverage Jungkook’s popularity, showcasing couple items related to Kookmin (the fan-shipped couple of Jungkook and Jimin), and even signing Kookmin photos brought in by fans.

Secondly, Jimin’s father has organized fansign events and signed autographs like a “real” idol, even though he is just the father of a BTS member.

Third, he was involved in Busan’s agreement to have BTS perform there. Additionally, he signed deals with hotels for promotional purposes, sharing referral fees when ARMYs (BTS fans) stayed there.

Most recently, he started selling BTS and Jimin-related merchandise at high prices, such as a “PAPA Sign T-shirt” priced at around 36 USD. Moreover, he used the color purple for the merch, a color chosen by Taehyung for the group and ARMY. K-netizens were confused and concerned about the high prices and whether this behavior violates the artists’ rights.

So far, opinions have been negative, though some fans still defend Jimin’s father, pointing out that he has always acted friendly towards fans and even made huge donations in Jimin’s name.
