G-Dragon Gears Up For Comeback With His Dream Team: Gocheok Concert In February & World Tour

The music industry is already excited for the return of the legendary second-generation K-pop star G-Dragon after a long hiatus

Joining Galaxy Corporation after leaving YG, G-Dragon has not carried out any music activities, and this caused fans to feel anxious about his future. Earlier in January, he made headlines with his appearance at CES2024, the world’s largest consumer electronic fair in LA, the US, and was appointed as KAIST’s special professor in June.

However, he did not release any new songs from all the preparations he had steadily accumulated for his comeback ever since he was in YG.

G-Dragon’s perfectionism might be one of the reasons for his long hiatus. He originally planned to release a new song on August 18th, around his birthday, and meet fans, but he decided to take a more cautious approach and postpone his album to November. Prior to this, G-Dragon plans to introduce a pre-release song in October to soothe fans’ disappointment.

G-Dragon kept his comeback a secret, but information kept being leaked out. Broadcaster Park Myung-soo gave a spoiler about G-Dragon’s schedule on his radio program broadcast on August 1st, saying “G-Dragon is coming back the month after next month. If he is nice enough, I guess he will appear on my radio show”.

Galaxy Corporation also released a statement, saying “Nothing has been confirmed, but it is true that we are preparing for a comeback in the second half of this year”, hinting at G-Dragon’s upcoming comeback.

According to Sports Seoul’s report, G-Dragon would introduce songs by the “experts” he has worked with in YG. A “dream team dedicated to G-Dragon”, including the director who created G-Dragon’s fashionable style, the manager who has worked with him for a long time, as well as the performance team and choreography team, has been formed. Since Galaxy Corporation is not an entertainment agency, they are forming a team, similar to a label to take care of superstar G-Dragon.

Above all, YG’s former CEO Yang Hyun-suk has already transferred all the trademark rights related to G-Dragon’s stage name to support the male idol’s future career. Therefore, G-Dragon’s comeback plan is expected to be accelerated. Yang Hyun-suk has a special affection for G-Dragon, who trained under his instruction and has been active as his artist since he was an elementary school student.

G-Dragon’s long-awaited reunion with VIP (BIGBANG’s fandom name) is expected to take place at Gocheok Sky Dome, Seoul in February 2025. The venue was originally booked for November, but due to the postponement in the album release schedule, the concert is also delayed to February. G-Dragon and his team is also positively discussing the possibility of the male idol’s performance at Mnet’s ‘MAMA Awards’.

Afterwards, G-Dragon plans to meet global VIPs. The BIGBANG leader is also preparing for his Asian tour and Japanese Dome Tour in April next year. An official shared, “G-Dragon’s solo concert can possibly sell out the Seoul World Cup Stadium with 60,000 seats”, adding “Although he has not been active for a long time since his discharge from the military, there are still many fans waiting for him. Therefore, it seems possible for him to sell out a Dome Tour”.
