On August 5th, G-Dragon’s agency Galaxy Corporation stated, “After announcing the establishment of the foundation through a press conference in December last year, we have held advisory meetings, interviews with experts, talks about specific fields, and made business preparations since January this year”, adding “The founding ceremony of ‘JusPeace Foundation’, with G-Dragon serving as honorary chairman, will take place on August 5th”.
Regarding the reason he established the foundation, honorary chairman G-Dragon said, “An artist does not just create art but can also live a life that brings happiness and peace to the world. Beyond spreading love and peace through music, I believe that I can spread positive influence and help more people if I actually engage in social service or establish a public foundation”.
He continued, “Although it’s not something big or significant, I believe that correcting injustices and misunderstandings in our daily lives can be considered justice”, adding “Many people in the world are suffering unfairness, and when they do, and they need someone to trust them and stay with them until the end. However, it is even more difficult for those without such support”.
The ceremony will begin with the opening speech by Choi Yong-ho, CEO of G-Dragon’s agency Galaxy Corporation and chairman of the foundation. This will be followed by an introduction of the foundation’s business by CEO of JusFoundation Oh Hee-young, a presentation on “Creators and Proper Use of Intellectual Property” by lawyer Jo Won-hee, who is both the foundation’s auditor and the head of the law firm DLG, and a presentation on “The Path Forward for JusPeace and What Kind of Peace” by Choi Jae-chun, chairman of the Biodiversity Foundation and honorary professor at Ewha Womans University.
Galaxy Corporation CEO & Chairman of the foundation Choi Yong-ho shared, “It is important for young artists to express their mental health problems and spread the power of healing through arts”, adding “According to G-Dragon’s intention, we will make more contributions to society than anyone else, starting with donation of copyrights and profits”.
