Kim Soo-hyun and Park Min-young light up the night in LA “Explosive reaction at ‘KCON LA 2024′”

Actors Park Min-young and Kim Soo-hyun illuminated the stage at "KCON LA 2024", connecting with American fans and the local Korean community for a special engagement

The two stars of Studio Dragon’s dramas “Queen of Tears” and “Marry My Husband” attended “KCON LA 2024”, which was held in Los Angeles from July 26th to 28th (local time).

Park Min-young appeared on the second day, July 27th, and Kim Soo-hyun on the final day, July 28th, both hosting special fan meetings at the Meet & Greet stage and gracing the “M Countdown” live broadcast stage.

Their participation in KCON, an event that has historically celebrated not just K-pop but also K-food, K-beauty and overall Korean culture, aimed to further expand the global reach of K-dramas and connect with K-pop fans.

On July 27th, the “Park Min Young Special Fan Meeting: Marry My Husband” took place. Expressing her excitement about visiting LA again after a long time, Park Min-young shared that the success of “Marry My Husband” lies in its ability to connect people worldwide through its story. She thanked everyone who made this remarkable journey possible.

The following day, the “Behind the Scene: Kim Soo Hyun” event was held. Kim Soo-hyun greeted the audience, noting that it had been nine years since he last attended KCON. He shared his excitement about being part of the vibrant KCON atmosphere again. He introduced some of his favorite K-pop songs, including INFINITE’s “Paradise”, IU’s “Through the Night” and BIBI’s “Bam Yang Gang”, which were met with cheers from the audience. Kim Soo-hyun concluded by mentioning his upcoming drama project, hinting at a potential return to LA soon.

“Marry My Husband”, which aired through tvN, TVING and Amazon Prime Video earlier this year, became the first Korean drama to top Amazon Prime Video’s global daily TV show rankings, maintaining a top 10 position for 27 weeks. It marked a milestone for Korean dramas on the platform since Amazon Prime Video’s global service began in 2016. “Queen of Tears”, which concluded in April, also achieved impressive viewership, setting a new record for tvN with an average rating of 24.9% (Nielsen Korea, nationwide paid households). It entered Netflix’s global top 10 non-English TV category after just three weeks and stayed in the top 10 for 15 consecutive weeks.
