NewJeans’ Minji Accused of Ignoring TXT Members? 

The interaction between NewJeans‘ eldest member, Minji, and TXT members recently sparked an unexpected debate among K-netizens. 

In particular, a footage from a recent event show TXT members bowing to Minji as a greeting. However, Minji didn’t bow back to the boy group, despite them being NewJeans’ seniors from the same parent company, sparking allegations of the female idol ignoring TXT. 

So far, topics about this accusation have drawn massive attention across Korean forums.

Many believe Minji’s action was unintentional, as she was focused on something else and didn’t notice TXT greeting her. However, some argue that she did it deliberately, especially among the ongoing ADOR-HYBE feud. 

It seems that the majority was defending Minji.

• She was interacting with Youngji, who was standing in front of TXT, and then suddenly Hanni gave her a slogan, so she turned to Hanni. If you watch the high-quality video, you can even see her mouthing something to Hanni.
• Everyone can see she was looking elsewhere and didn’t see TXT, what’s the big deal? If you want to create a public stir, go somewhere else.
• Ignoring a greeting means you dislike or want to ignore the other person, but what reason does Minji have to do that? The camera is working. Aren’t you tired of making unfounded accusations? Seriously.
• How can you call that ignoring? It looks like she didn’t notice at all.

At the same event, a video capturing the moment NewJeans met ILLIT circulated on various platforms. Since ILLIT’s debut in late March this year, this was the first time the group appeared in the same frame as NewJeans. However, the “awkward” atmosphere between the two girl group sparked controversy, and many netizens even claimed that ILLIT bowed to NewJeans but were completely ignored by their seniors.

NewJeans faced criticism for ignoring ILLIT. Some fans defended them, suggesting there could be understandable reasons behind their actions, as Min Hee-jin previously accused ILLIT of copying NewJeans. However, some believed NewJeans were too focused on something else to notice their juniors.

As TXT, ILLIT, and NewJeans are all under the same parent company, HYBE, the feud between Ador CEO Min Hee-jin and HYBE has many people curious about the current relationships between the idols under this conglomerate.
