Court Ruled That Actor Jisoo’s Agency Pay 1.4 Billion Won To Drama Production Company After He Left Due To School Violence Allegations

Earlier in March 2021, when KBS 2TV’s Monday-Tuesday drama “River Where The Moon Rises” aired up to the sixth episode, its lead actor Jisoo was accused of practicing school violence.

Jisoo immediately admitted some of the harm that the allegation caused and voluntarily left the drama. At that time, filming had finished for 18 out of 20 episodes.

The production company put Na In-woo as a substitute from the seventh episode and started re-filming. When the drama finished broadcasting, episodes 1 to 6 were also re-filmed.

The drama’s production company, Victory Content, has later filed a lawsuit against KeyEast, Jisoo’s then-agency, asking for 3 billion won in compensation, including additional production costs for re-shooting.

The Seoul Central District Court’s Civil Agreement Department 31 (Chief Judge Kim Sang-woo) ruled in favor of the plaintiff, saying, “The defendant should pay 1.42 billion won and delayed interest to the plaintiff,” in a damages lawsuit filed by Victory Contents against KeyEast. The specific reason for the ruling was not explained in court.
