Recently, aespa’s Winter was engaging with fans through a Weverse live broadcast. However, the broadcast was repeatedly interrupted by incessant calls from sasaeng fans.
At first, Winter tried to ignore the interruptions, but she eventually couldn’t hold back her frustration and sternly said, “Everyone, please don’t call.” She added, “When you call, the live broadcast gets cut off,” expressing her exasperation. Fans reacted with both sympathy and surprise, saying, “I’ve never seen Winter so angry,” and “Please stop bothering Winter.”
The issue of sasaeng fans is not unique to Winter, as many celebrities still suffer from such invasions of privacy. For instance, singer Kim Jaejoong, formerly of TVXQ, has spoken about the severe distress caused by sasaeng fans.
On the 21st, he shared that a sasaeng fan climbed on top of him and kissed him while he was asleep, adding, “The scariest thing is definitely people.”
Jung Eunji also faced serious privacy invasions, including receiving texts from a fan asking to be accepted as her “butler and companion” and stalking, leading her to take legal action.
Besides these incidents, there are numerous other cases where celebrities suffer from fans who cross the line, visiting their homes, secretly entering their residences, and even threatening their lives. While stars largely thanks to their fans, they are not subjects to be treated however fans please.
