Ahn Jae-hyun, how long will he keep milking the “World Gay” label? His best filmography being a music video is quite a letdown

Actor Ahn Jae-hyun has been actively using the "World Gay" moniker, but there's growing fatigue with the repetitive bromance trend

Critics argue that he hasn’t effectively leveraged the attention gained from this label into his acting career.

On July 20th, K.Will’s “No Sad Song For My Broken Heart” music video, featuring Ahn Jae-hyun and Seo In-guk, reached 5.43 million views. This video is a sequel to the 2012 hit “Please Don’t…”, which featured the gay theme and earned both actors the “World Gay” label. The new video also gained popularity, topping YouTube’s trending videos on June 21st.

Seo In-guk-Ahn Jae-hyun

While Ahn Jae-hyun and Seo In-guk’s bromance in various content was initially well-received, it has become repetitive and tiresome over the past month. Despite this, Ahn Jae-hyun’s performance in the music video was praised for its depth and emotional expression.

On July 12th, Ahn Jae-hyun appeared on MBC’s “I Live Alone”, where he reinforced his “World Gay” image with a warm gesture toward NCT’s Doyoung. Although Ahn Jae-hyun received praise for his acting in the music video, it’s disappointing that he hasn’t shown more of his daily life related to his main profession. Instead, he’s only been depicted dealing with health issues and visiting the hospital.

Ahn Jae-hyun has not received notable acclaim for his acting yet. Although his performance in the music video showed improvement and raised hopes for future projects, no new acting roles have been announced. This contrasts with Seo In-guk, who has been actively promoting his new album and has a fan meeting planned in Brazil on August 24th.

The “World Gay” concept, while initially attractive, is starting to lose its appeal due to its overuse. Ahn Jae-hyun needs to demonstrate his skills as a professional actor, as his current standout work is a music video rather than significant acting roles.
