TVING’s YouTube Channel Hacked “Taking Measures to Resolve the Issue”

TVING, a leading OTT platform in Korea, has fallen victim to a hacking incident on its YouTube account

According to Sports Seoul on July 20th, TVING’s YouTube account, which has about 7.71 million subscribers, has been hacked.

Currently, TVING’s official YouTube channel only has videos related to Ripple Coin and a short clip from tvN’s drama “Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramun“. It appears the hacker deleted or made most of the content private.

TVING has gained significant popularity in the domestic OTT market by offering a variety of original content, popular dramas and entertainment programs.

A representative from TVING told Sports Seoul, “We are aware of the problem and are taking measures to resolve it with YouTube. We will do our best to restore the channel as quickly as possible.”

Repeated hacking incidents by foreign hackers have been affecting the domestic entertainment industry and major YouTubers in Korea. In April, the official YouTube accounts of the girl group IVE and the groups MONSTA X and CRAVITY were also hacked.

At that time, the agency stated, “We are currently working with YouTube to resolve the hacking issue on the artists’ official channels. We are making every effort to recover all content as quickly as possible.”
