Byun Woo-seok’s fandom floods Gong Seung-yeon’s SNS post with complaints “Why?”

Some fans of actor Byun Woo-seok have raised eyebrows by posting complaints about the "excessive security" controversy involving him on another celebrity's post

Following the controversy, between July 16th and 18th, some of Byun Woo-seok‘s fans left numerous protest comments on the official Instagram account of Byun Woo-seok’s agency Varo Entertainment.

Byun Woo-seok’s fans expressed their dissatisfaction with comments like, “Why is the security company checking passengers’ tickets?“, “We saw how the agency blamed the security company. Even BTS, BLACKPINK, Son Heung-min and Kim Yuna don’t block airport gates“, “The apology statement was posted too late. The agency’s response this time was disappointing. The actor is taking all the blame unnecessarily” and “It’s sad to see how such handling makes the actor the scapegoat during such an important time.”

However, these comments were posted on a post about another actor, Gong Seung-yeon, who is also managed by Varo Entertainment. This happened because Gong Seung-yeon’s post was the most recent on the agency’s Instagram account, causing unintended harm to the unrelated actor’s post.

Accordingly, other fans showed self-regulating behavior. They commented, “Why are you all causing trouble on Gong Seung-yeon’s feed?“, “Please don’t do this here“, “Don’t post protest comments on another actor’s feed. Send an email“, “Don’t cause trouble for other actors” and “Issue a statement from the fan club or visit the agency to protest.

Due to the increase in complaints from Byun Woo-seok’s fans, other netizens joined in to criticize Byun Woo-seok and his agency, turning Gong Seung-yeon’s post into a battleground.

On July 12th, Byun Woo-seok left for a fan meeting in Hong Kong via Incheon International Airport, surrounded by six bodyguards who controlled the gates for about 10 minutes and arbitrarily checked the passports and tickets of general passengers.

The controversy intensified when a video captured a bodyguard flashing a light at a general passenger taking photos in the airport lounge. The situation became more serious as the restrictions affected general passengers, not just fervent fans.

Meanwhile, the Incheon Airport Police have begun a preliminary investigation into the bodyguards involved in the excessive security measures during Byun Woo-seok’s departure. The police plan to investigate whether the bodyguards violated laws such as obstruction of business, coercion or assault.
