Yoo Ah-in’s Fanclub Submitted a Petition To Court & Attended The 6th Trial

Fans of Yoo Ah-in (real name Uhm Hong-sik) filed a petition to the court asking for leniency on the actor?

At 2 p.m. on June 18th, the Criminal Agreement Division 25 of Seoul Central District in Seocho-gu, Seoul held the 6th trial for Yoo Ah-in and his friend Choi on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act. Yoo Ah-in’s doctor Hwang, who was absent from the 5th trial, appeared as a witness at the trial.

At the end of the trial, the court said, “We received a petition. I believe that it’s from your fans”, revealing that a petition regarding the trial of Yoo Ah-in had been submitted.

In fact, fans of Yoo Ah-in directly applied for the right to attend the 6th trial of the actor. Even after the trial, fans continued to show affection for the actor. They cheered for Yoo Ah-in by waving at the actor while standing along the road to his car.

Earlier, fans also came to support Yoo Ah-in at his 4th and 5th trials. During the 4th trial, Yoo Ah-in’s fans wore hats and masks to cover their faces and cheered for Yoo Ah-in by holding placards and banners with messages such as “Everything will be fine. Be strong”, “We are always on Ah-in’s side”, etc.

At the 5th trial last month, fans handed over a large shopping bag with a letter, saying “This is a gift for you”. Yoo Ah-in bowed his head and received the gifts from fans. In particular, they also shouted supportive messages when Yoo Ah-in returned to his car, saying “Eat well. Hakuna Matata”. “Hakuna Matata” means “getting rid of all worries” in Swahili language.

The next trial will take place at 2 p.m. on July 24th.

Earlier in October last year, Yoo Ah-in was indicted without detention on charges of habitually administering propofol, illegally purchasing sleeping pills under the name of someone else, smoking marijuana and instructing another person to take drugs, as well as destroying evidence. Yoo Ah-in’s friend Choi was also charged with smoking marijuana.

According to the prosecutors, Yoo Ah-in took propofol 181 times at hospitals in Seoul from September 2020 to March 2022 and received illegal prescriptions of sleeping pills under someone else’s name 44 times from May 2021 to August 2022. The police requested an arrest warrant for Yoo Ah-in but was rejected by the court. 

Yoo Ah-in only admitted to smoking marijuana in the first trial in December last yaer and denied other allegations. The actor claimed that some parts of the allegations had been exaggerated.
