On May 30th, Moon Jeong-hee met Ten Asia at a café in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, where she shared various stories about Netflix’s series “The 8 Show“.
“The 8 Show” tells the story of eight people who are trapped in a secret space divided into eight floors and participate in a sweet but dangerous show where they “earn money as time accumulates”. It is a dark comedy thriller based on the webtoons “Money Game” and “Pie Game” by Bae Jin-soo. The cast includes Ryu Jun-yeol, Chun Woo-hee, Park Jeong-min, Lee Yul-eum, Park Hae-joon, Lee Joo-young, Moon Jeong-hee and Bae Seong-woo.
Regarding her chemistry with the other actors, Moon Jeong-hee said, “What I’m most proud of is the incredible bond we developed among the actors. We all became genuinely close. Despite the challenging environment that could have caused friction among the eight of us, we encouraged each other. I also became close with the actor on the 3rd floor (Ryu Jun-yeol). He’s approachable and has a lot of humanity, which I liked. It was also touching to work with actress Chun Woo-hee again after a long time. She’s a junior who always brings out her distinct color and is someone I always think is wonderful and talented.”
Regarding the mixed reactions to the series, Moon Jeong-hee said, “I expected there could be divided opinions. The drama’s tone is a black comedy that allows you to laugh within discomfort. There are elements that twist and poke at you in a way that can be uncomfortable, so I expected that it might lead to diverse reactions.“
