Recently, Kim Hye-yoon met with news outlet Sports Chosun for an interview, where she discusses the conclusion of the tvN Monday-Tuesday drama “Lovely Runner“.
Due to the drama’s success and the actress’ rising popularity, fans have humorously criticized her, asking, “When will you start work with the new agency?”, and complained about the agency’s poor promotion, to which Kim Hye-yoon expressed her surprise.
“I was taken aback. It made me realize once again how popular this work has become. This has never happened before. I felt a bit unfair because I was doing what I could, but no one was calling me. I didn’t refuse any offers. I joked that if they invited me first, I would even attend company dinners”, the actress said.
Later on, Kim Hye-yoon discussed her criteria for choosing roles, stating, “There’s no clear standard, but for now, I pick roles where I feel I can show diverse aspects of myself. Even if another ‘rom-com’ comes along, I wouldn’t mind, but there are other genres I want to explore. In ‘Lovely Runner,’ my character had a job, but it was only brief. I’d like to try a role with a proper job, whether as a boss or a junior, as long as it’s a character with a profession.”
Now 29 years old, Kim Hye-yoon sees “Lovely Runner” as a significant work and a new starting point.
“The best compliment I received was that ‘there would be no Im Sol without Kim Hye-yoon.’ It’s something I’ve aspired to since I was young. I didn’t want to be ‘number one,’ but ‘the only one.’ Seeing comments like that made me feel good and proud”, the actress confessed, adding, “As a person in my late 20s, I thought that it would be nice to become a more mature and deeper person through this work, as well as as an actor and a person. I think it was a work that improved Kim Hye-yoon herself, and I learned a lot from seeing her persevere in overcoming hardships, and the message from the work touched me with hope.”
On the other hand, the hit K-drama “Lovely Runner” recently concluded on May 28.
