According to News1 on May 28th, Judge Lee Kyung-sun of the Seoul Central District Court’s Criminal Division 16 sentenced A to a fine of 300,000 won on charges of defamation.

According to the report, A argued at the trial that, “The comment did not specifically refer to Han Ye-seul and it was not an expression of defamation that would damage social evaluation”.

However, the court did not accept A’s argument, Judge Lee Kyung-soon pointed out, “The article included photos and age of Han Ye-seul. The content of the article was also about Han Ye-seul”, adding “Therefore, we believe that the comment was referring to the victim”.

In addition, the judge pointed out inappropriate words in A’s comment, saying “According to the National Institute of Korean Language’s Standard Korean Dictionary, the word ‘양아치 (yangachi)’ is an insulting term to call a beggar or a person who engages in immoral acts, and ‘날라리 (nallali)’ is a term referring to a person who acts recklessly and lacks dignity. These words are sufficiently abstract judgments or expressions of intense emotions that could undermine the victim’s social evaluation”.

Earlier on May 7th, Han Ye-seul announced her marriage with her boyfriend Ryu Sung-jae, who is 10 years younger than the actress. Han Ye-seul is enjoying her honeymoon.

On May 27th, the actress aroused keen attention when she complained on her SNS that she suffered discrimination during her honeymoon trip in Italy.
