NewJeans To Donate All Profits From University Festival Performances

Along with their comeback with “How Sweet”, NewJeans plans to donate all the profits they receive from performing at university festivals

On May 25th, NewJeans’s agency ADOR announced through the group’s fan communication app ‘Phoning’, “Following the comeback stage, NewJeans hopes to meet more fans at various events. They will be performing at 7 university festivals throughout the week”, adding “All profits from the college festivals will be donated”.

Starting with the Korea University festival on May 25th, NewJeans will appear at Chosun University on the 27th, Dong-eui University and Pusan University on the 28th, Dongguk University and Sejong University on the 30th and Chung-Ang University on the 31st. In particular, the girl group will present stages of their hit songs including the new tracks “How Sweet” and “Bubble Gum”.

Completing their first university festival schedule at Korea University by singing 4 songs, including “NewJeans”, “ETA” and the two new songs, NewJeans received explosive reactions from the public. Although NewJeans had just released “How Sweet” and “Bubble Gum” a day before the festival, the crowd sang along to the members loudly, certifying the girl group’s popularity.

“How Sweet” is becoming more popular overseas. It went straight to No.1 on Japan’s latest update of Oricon chart on May 24th. The song also topped three kinds of charts on the Chinese music site QQ Music. On Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform, NewJeans once again showcased an outstanding performance. “How Sweet” entered Spotify’s Global Daily Top Song at No.118 (as of May 24th). The song entered the Daily Top Song chart in a total of 11 countries and regions, including No.1 in Korea.

On Korea’s major music sites, such as Melon and Bugs, “How Sweet” and “Bubble Gum” are also taking the top spots, similar to their previous hit songs “Ditto”, “OMG”, “Super Shy” “ETA”, etc. Therefore, fans are looking forward to the spread of NewJeans Syndrome again this year. In terms of physical sales, the group sold over 810,000 copies on the first day of their album release. 

NewJeans’s music video is also a hot topic. “How Sweet” MV rose to the top of Trending YouTube MVs on May 24th and the point choreography of the song with a hip-hop vibe and witty gestures is also showing signs of creating another viral dance challenge.
