The May 22nd broadcast of tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block” (“You Quiz”) featured the guest appearance of actor Byun Woo-seok, who is gaining syndrome-like popularity with his role in tvN’s Mon-Tue drama “Lovely Runner”.
On the show, MC Yoo Jae-suk said he met Byun Woo-seok on “Running Man” a week before the recording of “You Quiz” and exclaimed, “Why do you look even more handsome?”, expressing his admiration for Byun Woo-seok’s visual.
Regarding his feelings about appearing on “You Quiz”, Byun Woo-seok said, “Rather than looking forward to it, I kept wondering, ‘Wow, they invited me?’. I always saw senior actors on the show and thought it was a program for great people only”, adding “I felt so happy that I couldn’t believe I would be appearing on ‘You Quiz’”.
The actor also talked about the popularity of the ongoing drama “Lovely Runner”. He said, “On the broadcasting day, I will wake up at exactly 7:30 p.m. even when I sleep at 3-4 a.m. The drama’s ratings are normally announced around that time, so I wake up for it and see how many articles about ‘Lovely Runner’ come out. I search ‘Byun Woo-seok’ and look through the news”, adding, “I did it once and I felt so excited. I cannot even sleep right away. My heart keeps beating fast”.
Byun Woo-seok confessed, “I’ve been working hard for 8-9 years. Therefore, I’m so overwhelmed and grateful for the love everyone gives me”. Revealing that he received many casting offers after acting in “Lovely Runner”, the actor said, “I heard 10-20 times more offers came to me”.
Also, Byun Woo-seok revealed a behind-the-scenes story about “Lovely Runner”. Emphasizing that it took 3 years to produce the drama, he said, “This is my first leading role but I wasn’t too popular. The script went to other actors first and that’s why it took 3 years to finish”. He added, “I’m so grateful that the script came to me”, adding “As soon as I read it, I thought I should do it no matter what. There were many things I could do and I was determined to give it a try”
