Korean Show Re-examined Why Ronaldinho Was Arrested For Using Fake Passport And Cryptocurrency Scam

In MBC’s ‘Mysterious TV Surprise’, which aired on May 19, the episode called ‘A fool who only knows soccer’ was broadcasted.

The show talked about how Ronaldinho was arrested in Paraguay in 2020 for attempting to enter the country with a fake passport. Paraguay’s philanthropist Dalia López gifted Ronaldinho with a fake passport and ID. Ronaldinho explained that he used the gift while having no idea it was fake. Ronaldinho is said to have shown the fake passport to Paraguayan customs even though Brazilian citizens did not need passports when entering this country.

At the court, Ronaldinho’s lawyer argued that the court should acknowledge the fact that he did not know much about the world because he had been playing soccer all his life. Nevertheless, Ronaldinho was detained in Asuncion prison along with his brother, who had entered the country with him.

Asuncion prison, where model prisoners and misdemeanors are relatively imprisoned, is said to have become a venue for an unexpected fan meeting with Ronaldinho’s appearance. When Ronaldinho turned 40 years old, the prisoners also held a party for him. Ronaldinho was the first player to be in this prison and he only brightened it up. Ronaldinho also played in a prison football competition.

Ronaldinho was released after 32 days on bail and fines. As a result, the inmates held a farewell party with homemade food, and Ronaldinho promised to return to the prison to visit them.

However, the fake passport case went in an unexpected direction. While Ronaldinho was in custody, Paraguay police arrested the fake passport maker and as a result businessman Dalia López ran away. According to the investigation, Dalia López illegally obtained millions of dollars by using a charity to evade taxes, laundering money and embezzlement.

The search at Dalia López’s house found hundreds of soccer balls with Ronaldinho’s face on them, and the police suspected that the Ronaldinho brothers were also accomplices. Ronaldinho was entrusted with his younger brother’s authority to run a business and was involved in a cryptocurrency scam. In addition, suspicions grew over his accomplice as a cryptocurrency was created after Ronaldinho, who deceived people by claiming that he would guarantee 2% daily profit. In the end, Ronaldinho was on the verge of arrest again, with his entire property seized.
