Previously in 2023, aespa’s Winter confirmed in fansign that LE SSERAFIM’s Huh Yunjin was once a trainee at SM Entertainment.
Winter went on to reveal that Huh Yunjin, along with herself and fellow aespa member Ningning, were roommates during their trainee days together.
Prior to Winter’s confirmation, rumors had been circulating widely about Huh Yunjin’s past as an SM trainee. aespa’s Ningning previously mentioned that she became friends with Huh Yunjin when they were both trainees.
Kep1er’s Chaehyun, another former SM trainee also revealed that she had known Huh Yunjin since their middle school days, the same time Chaehyun was training at SM.
While the time Huh Yunjin trained at and the reason she left SM remains undisclosed, it is known that she attended Pledis Entertainment’s audition in New York in 2017. She then participated in the idol survival show “Produce 48” and returned to the US after failing to make the debut line up, almost giving up on her idol dream.
However, in 2021, Source Music, another label under HYBE, contacted the female idol with an invitation, leading to Huh Yunjin’s debut in LE SSERAFIM in 2022.
