iPhone users requested to turn phones off during a play of Kim Yoo Jung, Jung So Min, and Chae Soo Bin

“Shakespeare in Love”, which stars Kim Yoo Jung, Jung So Min, and Chae Soo Bin, asked audiences to turn off iPhones for a hilarious reason.

On January 28th, production company Shownote said, “To the audience who will enjoy ‘Shakespeare in Love’, our play, which is set in 16th century England, has a character called ‘Sylvia’. Your friend ‘Siri’ may misunderstand ‘Sylvia’ as ‘Siri ya’ and reply, so please make sure to turn off your cell phone while watching the performance.”

Seeing the hilarious announcement, netizens expressed their excitement and left comments such as, “iPhones sure have good ears hahaha”, “Your friend Siri.. I can’t stop laughing”, “You must have suffered a lot during practice”, and “Strangely, Siri doesn’t react to my voice but responds when others do it”.

On the other hand, the play “Shakespeare in Love” is based on a 1998 film of the same name. It tells a love story resembling “Romeo and Juliet”, with Shakespeare being the main character.

The play will be performed for the first time in Korea this year, and actresses Kim Yoo Jung, Jung So Min, and Chae Soo Bin will play the role of Viola, daughter of a wealthy merchant, whom Shakespeare loves.

Meanwhile, the main character, Shakespeare, is played by actors Jung Mun Cheol, Lee Sang Yi, and Kim Seong Cheol, while Song Young Gyu and Lim Cheol Hyung will also appear.
