American actor Troy Kotsur expressed his gratitude to actress Youn Yuh-jung.
On Sep 6th, actor Troy Kotsur attended the press conference as he is appointed as the promotional ambassador of the 2030 World Congress of the World Federation of the Deaf at the Urban Sky Rooftop of the Pullman Hotel in Seoul, Jung-gu, Seoul.
According to News 1, on this day, when asked, “Is there anything you want to do in Korea?”, Kotsur said, “I want to first meet actress Youn Yuh-jung, who presented me the award at this year’s Academy Awards.”
He said, “I know that Youn Yuh-jung is very good at acting. I want to learn about acting in depth from here.” He added, “Especially when I received the award, I was worried about whether I should sign with one hand after receiving the trophy. I was very grateful that Youn held the trophy for me, allowing me to express my feelings comfortably.”
Kotsur is an actor with hearing disability. He won the 94th Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in ‘CODA’. In particular, Youn Yuh-jung appeared as the presenter of his Academy Award at the time, and received a lot of cheers as she congratulated Kotsur in sign language.
The ’19th World Congress of the World Federation of the Deaf’, in which Kotsur serves as a promotional ambassador, will be held at the Jeju International Convention Center in July next year.
Hollywood star Brad Pitt, who visited Korea last month to promote his movie, also mentioned Youn Yuh-jung as a Korean actress he would like to work with in an interview with KBS 2TV’s ‘Entertainment Weekly’. However, in the process of pronouncing her name, which is Youn Yuh-jung, he mistakenly said it as Yoo Jeong-yoon, to which he exclaimed, “She will kill me. I think she will scold me.”
