Despite all being extremely talented and gorgeous, not every Korean actresses born in the late 80s lead successful careers.

When it comes to popularity, Park Min Young is probably the top K-drama actress born in the late 80s. The actress first drew attention via the 2010 historical drama “Sungkyunkwan Scandal”, before landing constant hits like “Dr. Jin”, “City Hunter”, “Healer”, “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim”, and most recently, “Forecasting: Love and Weather”.

However, compared to the rest of her generation, Park Min Young received little critical acclaim. In addition, starting from 2018, the actress constantly stars in office dramas like “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim”, “Her Private Life”, and “Forecasting: Love and Weather”, leading to many people calling her a one trick pony.

Moon Geun Young is probably the most regrettable case in the list, as the actress earned successes in both dramas and movies super early on, only to fall off the acting map due to an unfortunate reason.

In particular, the actress shined spectacularly and was even nicknamed “the nation’s little sister” after her impressive performances in “Autumn in My Heart”, “A Tale of Two Sister”, even winning a grand prize Daesang with “Painter of The Wind”.

However, Moon Geun Young found herself diagnosed with compartment syndrome, and even now hasn’t fully recovered. She thus had to take long hiatuses from the acting world, leading to her later series like “Catch the Ghost” performing poorly.

After starring in the 2009 massive hit “Boys Over Flowers”, Kim So Eun, with her goddess-like visuals, was expected to become a top star in the Korean acting industry. However, despite scoring major roles in various dramas like “Happiness in the Wind”, “Liar Game”, and “The Scholar Who Walks The Night”, the actress never managed to gain attention. Now, against successful actresses from the same generations and rising young stars, Kim So Eun is having an extremely hard time.

Jeon Yeo Bin (1989)

Compared to the rest of the list, Jeon Yeo Bin started her career rather late, only officially entering the acting world with a minor role in the 2017 thriller “Save Me”. However, the actress’s talent quickly gained Jeon Yeo Bin her well-deserved prominence, with impressive portrayals in the independent film “After My Death”, “Night in Paradise”, and series like “Be Melodramatic” and “Vincenzo”.
