In a YouTube video released on September 23, 4Minute’s Ji-yoon and So-hyun looked back on their careers and discussed pivotal moments in their lives. When asked about her most difficult experience, So-hyun revealed that the group’s sudden disbandment left her feeling lost for years afterward.
Ji-yoon, who is currently working as a writer, opened up about a difficult turning point in her life. She said, “It felt like a continuation of everything. The first one or two years after the disbandment were the hardest. I completely lost my sense of belonging. After being somewhere for years, I was suddenly told that it was over—it was incredibly despairing.”
According to So-hyun, the members had only one meeting to talk about contract renewals, during which she asked for more time to consider her decision. However, not long after, the group was blindsided by an official notice that they were disbanded.
“For me, it was after the disbandment. Those first year or two. Because that was when I suddenly lost my sense of belonging. After being somewhere for years, suddenly one day we were just gone. Right, all of a sudden. It was just one sudden notice, and we were gone. That feeling of having no belonging—I think that was the hardest time.”
She and Ji-yoon even went to the home of Cube Entertainment’s then-CEO in an effort to discuss the situation but were turned away at the door.
So-hyun recalled, “I remember the last time I rode with unnie to visit the company president’s house, only to be turned away. When the five of us gathered, I had already decided not to renew my contract once. But receiving the official disbandment notice felt like the world was collapsing. Riding in the car with unnie that day, I felt completely empty.”

She added, “I’ve never gone to an ex-boyfriend’s house after a breakup, but when the team unexpectedly ended, the emptiness was overwhelming.”
The clip quickly spread online, sparking renewed outrage among netizens. Many criticized Cube Entertainment for its cold handling of the group’s disbandment, with fans calling it one of the most disrespectful ways a company could end a beloved group’s journey.
