47-year-old actor Cha Tae Hyun’s portrayal of high school student in “Moving” received mixed responses
Reactions to Cha Tae Hyun’s acting in school uniform are divided.
Episode 16 of “Moving”, which was released on Disney Plus on September 13th, depicts Jeon Gye Do (Cha Tae Hyun) when he was a high school student.
While attending Jeongwon High School, Jeon Gye Do was recommended by his homeroom teacher Choi Il Hwan (Kim Hee Won) to prepare for a sports university’s entrance exam. It was actually a process of Choi Il Hwan verifying whether Jeon Gye Do had the ability to generate electricity and assessing whether he could become a black agent for the National Intelligence Service.
Through the process, Choi Il Hwan realized that Jeon Gye Do did not have the qualities to become a black agent so he told Jeon Gye Do to enter the broadcasting entertainment department of a normal university instead of a sports university.
In this scene, Cha Tae Hyun played the role of a high school student wearing a school uniform himself without using a child actor. Born in 1976, Cha Tae Hyun is already 47 years old this year so his transformation into a high school student faced various opinions from viewers.
Watching episode 16 of “Moving”, some praised the actor’s acting, saying “His acting as a high school student in a uniform looks so natural”, “I think he completed the high school student role well”, etc. However, others gave different reviews, saying “I think using a child actor would have been better”, “Taehyun looks younger than his age but he’s the only one who looks old when acting the scene among high school students”, “He does not fit in with young actors in the scene”, etc.
He shared, “I went to the set and all the people there were high school students. What’s the point of saying I looked young among people of my age? Once you sit there with the students, you look absolutely old. I looked so old there”.
Hearing that, Kim Sung Kyun praised Cha Tae Hyun, saying “Bro, don’t you have the superpower of not aging?”. Cha Tae Hyun looked away with a deep sigh.
