4 Korean actors who are losing popularity after continuing to star in unsuccessful films and dramas

The careers of these actors either remain unchanged or go downhill.

The popularity of these 4 following actors are no longer the same as 4-5 years ago after they continued to accept scripts that take their career backwards.

1. Park Bo Gum

Park Bo Gum officially shot to stardom thanks to playing the male lead in Reply 1988. He continued to hit big later with Love In The Moonlight although the drama was not highly appreciated for its plot. Sadly, after two small-screen hits in a row, Park Bo Gum’s later projects, namely Encounter with Song Hye Kyo, Record Of Youth with Park So Dam, and Seo Bok with Gong Yoo, could not receive the same amount of attention and impact, despite getting high expectations prior to their releases.

2. Hyeri

Similar to Park Bo Gum, Hyeri also rose to fame thanks to Reply 1988. After getting her big break with Reply 1988, Hyeri unfortunately could not move past the image of Duk Sun, as viewers claim no matter which role Hyeri takes on, she looks like Duk Sun. Neither Miss Lee nor My Roommate Is A Gumiho succeeded commercially. The current drama that she is playing the female lead in, Moonshine, premiered to a promising start, but could not keep its attraction and discussion rate on SNS.

3. Song Hye Kyo

Song Hye Kyo was once known for her ability to guarantee the success of every K-drama she starred in. But after the massive hit Descendants of the Sun, it seems like luck was no longer on Song Hye Kyo’s side. Although Encounter drew mixed reviews for its script, the ratings were decent. Meanwhile, Now, We Are Breaking Up, marking Song Hye Kyo’s comeback after 2 years, is considered a major setback in her career. With declining ratings and underwhelming script, Now, We Are Breaking Up becomes a sad note in the glorious career of Song Hye Kyo.

4. Park Shin Hye

Park Shin Hye used to be criticized for being too safe, refusing to step out of her comfort zone, and she herself once acknowledged this weakness. However, in recent years, she has continued to show effort to renew her on-screen image. No longer framing herself in the image of soft, innocent female characters, Park Shin Hye challenged her acting in more diverse genres. Unfortunately, the scripts she selected, such as Memories of Alhambra or Sisyphus: Mythology, failed to become hits and take Park Shin Hye’s popularity back to its peak.
