36-year-old Jay Park who doesn’t even know how much money he has in his bank account because his parents manage his money
Singer Jay Park (Park Jae-beom) gained huge success with his soju brand “Wonsoju.”
More than 30,000 people visited the brand’s first pop-up store in a week, and all 20,000 bottles of Wonsoju prepared were sold out.
At the second pop-up store, which was set up thanks to all the support, Wonsoju is also receiving much love.
Park Jae-beom must be happy to see his bank account balance increasing accordingly, but he is actually not really interested in money.
In March last year, Park Jae-beom conducted an interview with the magazine GQ Korea.
When asked if he wore an expensive necklace at the time, Park Jae-beom said, “I don’t,” adding, “I bought some in the beginning. I don’t know if it’s because I’m old these days, but I just wear comfortable clothes and don’t wear accessories even if I have them.”
Park Jae-beom said, “Now, I don’t consider things that we can buy with money too valuable. In my opinion, what I achieved, AOMG, H1GHR MUSIC, my albums, things like winning Artist of the Year, and the fact that I bring courage, hope and have a good influence on many people are all successes to me. And the love and support from other people”.
He argued, “No matter how much money I earned, would it be meaningful if everyone around hated me?”.
Park Jae-beom continued, “Even when I die, money won’t feel sad for me. Money won’t miss me. But if I die, people will think of me and remember my existence like, ‘He was a good person’, ‘He did this and that’”.
“I have never been obsessed with money. I don’t even know how much I have in my bank account now. My mom and dad manage them all”, he said.
Park Jae-beom shared, “If my friend needs some help, I will just ask, ‘Dad, can you send me 5 million won to this (account)?”
“The real bosses of a young boss were his parents”, he continued, “That’s right. I’m not that greedy about materials. It’s very annoying to have a new iPhone. You have to transfer things to a new one. Then they will release a new product in the next year anyway”.
