While controversy mounts over a handwritten letter posted by 2NE1 member Park Bom targeting fellow member Sandara Park, reports suggest there has been no actual conflict or discord between the members. Sandara Park personally posted a message on social media expressing concern for Park Bom’s health, seemingly de-escalating the situation for now. However, the fact that Sandara Park “unfollowed” Park Bom’s social media account has sparked intense interest in the changing dynamic between the two.
On the 4th, a close associate of Park Bom (referred to as “A”) told Star News, “The post (Park Bom) uploaded is not true. It is a preposterous story.” A, who has looked after Park Bom for a long time, emphasized, “Fans and the public might naturally speculate ‘did something like that happen in the past’ because they only see the news, but it is completely groundless. She has never done drugs. She stays home almost exclusively, and such a thing never happened.”
According to A, Park Bom appears to have made impulsive, groundless claims while in an unstable psychological state. Park Bom has previously disclosed that she suffers from Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), a type of ADHD that lacks the hyperactivity component, often referred to as “Quiet ADHD.”
In October 2010, Park Bom brought Adderall—a psychotropic drug containing amphetamine used to treat her condition—into Korea without a customs declaration. She was caught in 2014 and received a stay of indictment from the prosecution. In her recent handwritten post, she explained again, “I don’t want to talk about it anymore. I’m afraid that talking about it in the news again is a shortcut to ruin. I died back then.” She added, “But I’m speaking up with courage. That wasn’t drugs. I am an ADD patient.”
Furthermore, Park Bom directly mentioned Sandara Park, claiming, “Sandara Park got caught with drugs, and to cover that up, they made Park Bom into a drug addict.” She continued, “At the time, the country had no medicine or laws regarding Adderall. Strangely, the law was created after Park Bom. I ask the citizens of the internet to investigate the facts as they are.”
Park Bom also targeted Yang Hyun-suk (head of 2NE1’s former agency, YG Entertainment), main producer Teddy, and 2NE1 leader CL.
