“2 Days & 1 Night” viewership fell significantly to the 7% range, rating slump continues for 2 months straight

“2 Days & 1 Night” faces “unlucky days” with a prolonged sluggish rating situation.

According to Nielsen Korea on May 1st, the broadcast of KBS 2TV’s “2 Days & 1 Night” on April 30th recorded a nationwide viewer rating of 7.4%. This is a 1.7% decrease from the previous broadcast rating of 9.1% (April 23rd).

It is shocking that “2 Days & 1 Night” even reached the range of 7% this time. In fact, this is the second time within 2023 that “2 Days & 1 Night” has recorded a rating in the 7% range, following the January 22nd broadcast (7.3%). Although the show is still maintaining its No.1 position among terrestrial TV programs of the same time slot, it seems to be struggling to recover its viewership situation.

Since the February 26th broadcast, which achieved 10.1%, “2 Days & 1 Night” has failed to record a double-digit rating for two consecutive months. It barely stayed around the 9% range in March and the 8% range in April. Although there was hope for a rating rebound by recording 9.1% in the April 23rd episode, the program’s rating dropped again only a week later.

The latest “2 Days & 1 Night” episode showed the members, Yeon Jung Hoon, Kim Jong Min, Moon Se Yoon, DinDin, Na In Woo, and Yoo Seon Ho, joining “Lucky Day”. However, it couldn’t captivate viewers.

Featuring episodes with a spring atmosphere, “2 Days & 1 Night” was expected to recover significantly in March. However, the unique wilderness of the show has faded away. The unique characteristics of the show that used to make viewers laugh, such as exciting missions and the members’ unpredictable fortunes, have disappeared. The mischievous reaction of the youngest members Na In Woo and Yoo Seon Ho which sometimes surprised their older brothers and changed the flow of the missions was perhaps the only entertaining factor on the show.

The repeated performance of Kim Jong Min, who has been with “2 Days & 1 Night” since day 1, and DinDin’s constant complaints halved the audience’s interest. Although Yeon Jung Hoon and Moon Se Yoon are trying to harmonize with the members, a new change is needed to replace the patterns and content that fans have been so familiar with.

“2 Days & 1 Night” endured a sad spring due to the ratings fall this March and April. Despite the production team’s efforts to capture the spring atmosphere, the viewers still turned their backs away. With the recent rating plummeting to the 7% range, “2 Days & 1 Night” has been unable to recover from its slump for two months. Therefore, attention is focused on whether the show can regain viewers’ trust with more innovative plans.
