15 outstanding K-dramas to be released in December 2021

Here are 15 K-dramas that are worth looking forward to in the last month of 2021.

Another exciting month of Korean dramas is coming.  Let’s take a look at 15 notable series that are coming out this December!

1. User Not Found

Teen romance series User Not Found centers on the story between two female students with identical names. They are transferred to the same new school at the same time. The two then agree on a secret contract to swap identities, with the hope to change their lives.

Starring rookie actors including CIX’s Bae Jin Young, Shin So Hyun, Han Ye Ji, Ahn Se Min, Lee Seung Gyu, User Not Found is expected to be a good stepping stone for these new faces. 

The first episode of User Not Found is set to air on December 3 on KOK TV Youtube channel. New episodes will come out every Friday and Saturday. 

2. Our Beloved Summer

Another dreamy and adorable youth drama is drawing much anticipation. 

Our Beloved Summer is a love story between a couple in high school who break up and swear to never see each other again. But years laters, fate once again brings them together when their old documentary suddenly becomes famous.

Will they fall in love again and find their ways back to one another after what they went through in the past? Our Beloved Summer reminds many viewers a bit of the hit Taiwanese film – You Are The Apple Of My Eye. Hopefully Our Beloved Summer will have a more satisfying ending for the two main characters.

Starring the charming duo Kim Da Mi and Choi Woo Sik, Our Beloved Summer is scheduled to premiere on December 6 on SBS.

3. Artificial City

Marking the return of Park Soo Ae after 3 years of absence from the small screen, Artificial City is receiving a lot of anticipation from the audience.

Belonging to the psychological, mysterious horror genre – Artificial City has a compelling plot as it depicts stories of people with diverse interests and personalities and complex relationships. They are willing to sacrifice others to hide the evil schemes and achieve their ambitions.

Besides Park Soo Ae, the drama also has the participation of veteran actors such as Kim Kang Woo, Kim Mi Sook, Lee Hak Joo, Lee Chong Joo, Kim Young Jae.

Artificial City will air its first episode on December 8 on jTBC with a total of 20 episodes.

4. Taejong Yi Bang Won

Taejong Yi Bang Won is going to be the first historical drama released this December. The series tells the story of King Taejong – the third king of Korea with his masterful and wise leadership.

The drama features a well-known cast consisting of familiar faces in period dramas such as Joo Sang Wook, Kim Yeong Cheol, Park Jin Hee, Ye Jin Won, Hong Kyung In, Lee Kwang Ki.

Many viewers expect Taejong Yi Bang Won to be another successful historical drama based on real characters like Jumong, Dae Jang Geum or Dong Yi. 

The series consists of 32 episodes and will officially be on air starting from December 11, on KBS1 every Saturday and Sunday.

5. Uncle 

Belonging to the psychological drama genre, Uncle, a remake of the BBC comedy-drama series, depicts the psychological changes of a musician after meeting his sister’s son – a boy suffering from OCD. 

Uncle is expected to be a healing dose for the audience through the heart-warming story between the uncle and his nephew. 

Uncle stars Oh Jung Se, Lee Kyung Hoon, Jeon Hye Jin, Park Sun Young, Lee Sang Woo, Hwang Woo Seul Hye and will premiere on December 11 on TV Chosun every Saturday and Sunday.

6. Love Twist

After a successful comeback with T-ara on November 15, Hahm Eunjung will return to the small screen with a lead role in Love Twist.

Love Twist is a 100-episode family drama with a lighthearted and meaningful plot – revolving around the love and life of three families. 

Love Twist stars Hahm Eun Jung, Kim Jin Yeop, Jang Se Hyun, Son Sung Yoon, Shim Hye Jin, Hwang Shin Hye and will have its first broadcast on December 13 on KBS2.

7. Bad And Crazy

With the thrilling investigative and crime-solving genre, Bad And Crazy depicts the story of a bad cop who goes through a 180-degree change. From indifference to integrity, he begins to actively participate in solving cases with his teammates. Is there any motive or factor that makes him change? The series promises to feature many interesting scenes and eye-catching action sequences.

Bad And Crazy also marks the first collaboration between Lee Dong Wook and Squid Game’s star Wi Ha Joon. This is definitely a combination that is worth looking forward to. 

Bad And Crazy with a total of 12 episodes will premiere on December 17 on both iQiyi and tvN every Friday and Saturday.

8. Bulgasal: Immortal Souls

This is a fantasy drama that revolves around two characters. The first is a woman who has gone through several reincarnations over the course of 600 years and remembers all of her past lives, and the second is a man who has lived for over 600 years as a bulgasal—a mythical creature that feeds off human blood and is cursed with immortality.

The film has the participation of Sweet Home actor – Lee Jin Wook and the beloved supporting female of Itaewon ClassKwon Na Ra.  It can be seen that the main character line is already very attractive to viewers!

Bulgasal: Immortal Souls will air its first episode on December 18, on tvN.  The drama will be shown every Saturday and Sunday.

9. Snowdrop

Set in 1987, Im Soo Ho and Eun Young Ro are students at a prestigious university in Seoul. Im Soo Ho, who grew up in Germany, has a gentle charm but gives off an air of secrecy.  Eun Young Ro, who is lively, lovable, and cheerful, fell in love with him at first sight at a social gathering. One day, Soo Ho suddenly rushes into a female dormitory covered in blood, and Eun Young Ro hides him and tends to his wounds despite facing danger under close surveillance.

Snowdrop marks the debut of Jisoo (Black Pink) as an actress.  In addition, the drama also has the participation of actor Jung Hae In – one of the famous actors with romantic dramas.

The series will be broadcast on December 18 on jTBC and Disney Plus with a total of 16 episodes.

10. Only One Person

The series tells the story of three women who have met in a hospice ward and have decided to kill one bad person before they die. In the process, they are faced with meeting ‘one person’ who is truly precious.

Surely this will be a good drama with the participation of rating queen Kang Ye Won, female idol Joy (Red Velvet) and a series of other famous names like Kim Kyung Nam, Ahn Eun Jin, Han Gyu  Won, Dong Sang Woo.

The drama is shown on Mondays and Tuesdays on jTBC with the first episode airing on December 20.

11. When Flowers Bloom, I Think Of The Moon

As a historical drama to be aired this coming December, When Flowers Bloom, I Think Of The Moon marks the first collaboration on the small screen of female idol Lee Hye Ri and actor Yoo Seung Ho.

Set in the Joseon era during a period marked by the strictest prohibition laws illustrating that prohibition is no match for human desire.The couples in When Flowers Bloom, I Think Of The Moon will encounter even life-threatening dangers in this context.

The drama will be broadcast on December 20 on KBS2 and is scheduled to air every Monday and Tuesday.

12. The Silent Sea

This is definitely Netflix’s fantasy blockbuster that should not be missed this December!

The Silent Sea is adapted from the short film The Sea Of Tranquility.  Set in a post-apocalyptic setting, the film tells the story of a group of special members who are trained to be sent out to bring back samples from an abandoned research facility on the moon.

The film has the participation of popular names such as Gong Yoo, rating queen Bae Doo Na, Lee Joon, Heo Sung Tae, Lee Moo Saeng, Jung Sun Woon.  The first episode will air on December 24 on Netflix.  The series will have a total of 8 episodes.

13. Fly High, Butterfly

Fly High, Butterfly is a healing drama about life.  The drama exploits the story around the characters who are hair stylists and trainees working together in a barber shop.  They always love themselves and their customers in their own ways.

The drama has a familiar cast such as Kim Hyang Gi, Choi Daniel, Oh Yoon Ah, Shim Eun Woo, Park Jung Woo, and Moon Tae Yoo.

Although the airing time has not been determined yet, the drama seems to be quite suitable for Korean viewers’ tastes. 

14. Tracer

Aired on MBC with only 1 episode, Tracer is still one of the most attractive dramas right from the time of its promotion thanks to its unique content and character line.

The film tells the story of a man newly appointed to the position of manager at the Seoul regional tax office’s investigation office.  Despite his relatively young age, this character has a sharp and steely tongue, and a good-looking appearance.

In the drama, Im Si Wan will play the male lead, using his talent, sharp tongue, and teaming up with his team to track down the hidden money from the tax service.

In addition, Tracer also has the participation of actors Son Hyun Joo, Go Ah Sung, Chu Sang Mi, Park Yong Woo, and Moon Soo In.

15. The Witch Store Reopening

As a sequel to Welcome, The Witch Shop in 2019, the film follows a high school boy who works part-time in a shop owned by a witch.  Although the guy is quite shy and has no dreams, he still struggles to save the witch’s shop from the risk of having to close.

The Witch Store Reopening has the participation of GFriend Jung Ye Rin, male singer Kim Yong Hee of CIX, and Kwon Ah Reum.

This is probably one of the most anticipated idol dramas of 2021. Hopefully this cast will make the success of The Witch Store Reopening.
