‘12.12: The Day’ Became Jung Woo-sung’s First Movie To Surpassed 10 Million Audiences

“12.12: The Day” recorded 10,060,533 cumulative viewers as of 12 a.m. on December 24. It broke the box office record of Korean movies by becoming the second movie in 2023 after “The Outlaws 3” and becoming the first non-franchise film after the COVID-19 pandemic to attract 10 million viewers.

In particular, Hwang Jung-min, who made the most drastic transformation in the history of filmography when playing Chun Doo-kwang in the movie, achieved his third 10 million title through the “12.12: The Day” after “Ode to My Father” (2014) and “Veteran” (2015).

Lee Sung-min, who showed his 35-year acting skills, succeeded in surpassing 10 million for the first time as a lead actor following the 10 million box office success of “The Attorney.”

Meanwhile, “12.12: The Day” is a film based on a true event about a nine-hour rush to prevent a rebellion by the new military forces in the capital city of Seoul.
