10 Most Anticipated K-dramas of 2024, According to Experts 

Recently, Korea media site TV Daily conducted a survey with over 80 experts in the broadcasting and television industry, revealing the most anticipated K-dramas of 2024.

A/ Regular TV:

1st place: Jeong Nyeon – Female prowess 

In the traditional television category, “Jeong Nyeon” of tvN topped the list of the most anticipated TV shows with 16 votes. Set against the backdrop of the Korean War in the 1950s, the series depicts the coming-of-age story of Jeong Nyeon, from her childhood to her joining the national theater troupe. 

The show features a powerhouse cast, including Kim Tae-ri, Shin Ye-eun, Ra Mi-ran, Moon So-ri, and Jung Eun-chae. Most voters are intrigued by the story centered around women and are looking forward to the versatile acting of Kim Tae-ri. “

2nd place: Captivating the King – Historical intrigue 

tvN seems to be taking a far lead, as the 2nd position also belongs to this broadcasting station with historical series “Captivating the King”. The series, winning 12 votes, stars Jo Jung-suk and Shin Se-kyung, and is scheduled to premiere on January 21.

According to experts, the meeting of Jo Jung-suk and Shin Se-kyung can be trusted, and the script is interesting.

3rd place: Wedding Impossible – Rom-com Revival

In 3rd place with 9 votes is yet another tvN work, particularly the romantic comedy series “Wedding Impossible”. Adapted from a webtoon of the same name, “Wedding Impossible” will feature the familiar rom-com trope of “fake marriage”, and will feature award-winning actress Jeon Jong-seo and rising actor Moon Sang-min.

Set to release in February, “Wedding Impossible” is said to be a sweet drama that is easy to watch.

4th place: Someday Hospital Playlist – Healing champ

Securing 8 votes, tvN’s “Someday Hospital Playlist” earned 4th place in TV Daily’s “Most anticipated K-dramas of 2024” list, and is highly-anticipated for being a spin-off of hit drama “Hospital Playlist”. 

Like the original, “Someday Hospital Playlist” is expected to continues “Hospital Playlist”s signature “healing effect”, under the creative hands of PD Shin Won-ho and writer Lee Woo-jung 

5th place: “Greetings”

Finally, the SBS rom-com “Greetings” took 5th place with 6 votes. Featuring Lee Jun-hyuk and Han Ji-min, the actors’ chemistry is something to look forward to, according to experts.

It is known that this drama is currently in production with the goal of airing in 2024. 

B/ OTT Platform

In the OTT platform category, “Squid Game 2” unsurprisingly tops the list of the most anticipated shows with 21 votes. Most voters are curious about what the director will bring to the audience after the massive success of the first season.

Meanwhile, the second position goes to Netflix’s “Gyeongseong Creature” Season 2 (10 votes) with the participation of Park Seo-joon and Han So-hee. Set in the darkest days of 1945,

In 3rd place is another Netflix series, “All of Us Are Dead” Season 2 with 7 votes, followed by Tving’s “Exchange 3” (also known as “Transit Love 3”) with 5 votes.

Finally, the 5th position is assumed by Netflix’s “The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call” (4 votes). This is Netflix’s first medical-themed production featuring Joo Ji-hoon and Choo Young-woo.
