On the April 20 episode of Uh, But Like Seriously!, BOYNEXTDOOR’s Jaehyun opened up about dating within the group.
Despite confirming there is no formal dating ban, he admitted: “If I date, it won’t just be about getting in trouble—it’ll be a really big issue.”
When asked directly if he wanted to date, he firmly replied, “No.”
Jaehyun hinted that the real reason comes from Zico’s guidance. While there’s no contractual restriction, the producer has clearly set expectations.

He shared: “Zico hyung told us, ‘You don’t need to go through what I went through. I hope you only experience the good things.’”
This statement suggests that Zico’s advice is rooted in personal experience rather than strict control.
Zico’s comments inevitably bring back memories of his public relationship with Seolhyun from AOA.

Their relationship was revealed in August 2016 and quickly became a major media topic. At the time, both sides acknowledged they were getting to know each other.
However, the couple broke up after just about a month of going public, citing pressure from intense public attention and personal circumstances.

During the broadcast, host Tak Jae-hoon jokingly pointed out the irony: “But Zico dated too, didn’t he?”
Another host humorously added, “What he experienced was the good part!” —drawing laughter from the cast and highlighting the contradiction in a lighthearted way.
In Zico’s case, his advice appears less about restriction and more about protecting his artists from the pressures he once faced.
Rather than hypocrisy, Zico’s stance may reflect a deeper industry reality—where personal relationships can quickly become public controversies.
