Her brother, Zhao Jian, expressed outrage online, condemning the relentless online harassment and false accusations that caused significant public backlash. Edited photos and targeted insults worsened the situation, affecting their entire family.
The family reported the matter to police. Investigation revealed the originator of the rumors was a lawyer, who admitted creating the story to gain attention and business traffic.
Zhao Wei, who had remained silent for years amid various scandals and speculated blacklisting, has now decided to take legal action to protect her dignity. Her brother stated that she had suffered emotional trauma due to years of defamation.
