On April 30, Zhao Wei attended a class reunion at the Beijing Film Academy, alongside her 1996 classmates, including well-known stars Huang Xiaoming and Chen Kun. In photos from the gathering, Zhao Wei appeared in simple attire, looking so understated that many found it hard to believe she was once one of the biggest names in Chinese entertainment.

She also shared a photo from the reunion with a brief caption: “30 years – Class of ’96, Acting Department, Beijing Film Academy.”

Zhao Wei was once considered a pride of the academy. During her second year as a student, she rose to fame across Asia with the hit drama My Fair Princess. The role turned her into an overnight sensation and a national idol, with fan mail reportedly filling an entire dorm room.

Following that breakthrough, she continued to achieve major success on screen and became one of the top stars in the industry. She later pursued a master’s degree in directing at the Beijing Film Academy. However, in August 2021, Zhao Wei was suddenly banned from appearing in media, effectively halting her entertainment career.

In recent years, Zhao Wei has focused on traveling and spending time with friends. She rarely posts on social media and no longer appears to maintain the polished image she once had, leading many to believe she has no intention of returning to the entertainment world.

Earlier in March, the film No Other Love, which Zhao Wei worked on in 2016, was finally released under a new title. However, it did not perform well, and her name was completely removed from the production credits. Zhao Wei attended an early screening, but only as a regular moviegoer supporting the film. Many fans expressed disappointment that she could not be officially associated with her own project.

At the same time, a series of financial issues reportedly led to the collapse of several of her companies, leaving her unable to repay debts after losing lawsuits.

She has also been linked to rumors involving illegal activities abroad, which her family has firmly denied, stating that they will take legal action against those spreading false information.

Despite ongoing controversies, Zhao Wei’s occasional appearances continue to spark curiosity, as the public reflects on the dramatic contrast between her past stardom and her current low-profile life.
