Zhao Lusi is once again dominating Chinese social media after her Stay Romantic in Thailand concert created massive online buzz and reportedly generated more than one billion views across platforms.
The actress recently held her fan concert event in Thailand with thousands of attendees present. Although the event took place overseas, Zhao Lusi’s popularity back in China exploded simultaneously, turning her into one of the most discussed celebrities of the week.
According to Chinese media reports, entertainment analysts described the impact of Zhao Lusi’s concert by saying: “One night of Zhao Lusi’s concert generates more attention than someone filming dramas for four or five months.”
Statistics circulating online revealed that the keyword “Zhao Lusi” surpassed 1.04 billion views on Douyin within a single day. During the concert itself, her Douyin popularity index reportedly exceeded 22 million points — a figure many netizens compared to the performance of hit Chinese dramas.
Reports noted that, since the beginning of 2026, very few Chinese dramas have managed to even surpass 16 million points on the same platform.
Beyond Douyin, Zhao Lusi also recorded massive engagement on Weixin, where discussion indexes reportedly reached 185 million — far above the typical 40 to 60 million range often seen for top-tier celebrities with strong fandoms.
Concert clips, fancams and backstage photos also spread rapidly across platforms including Weibo, Xiaohongshu and Douyin, further amplifying the event’s visibility.
However, despite the overwhelming attention, Zhao Lusi’s concert also sparked significant controversy online.
Some viewers criticized several of her stage outfits, claiming certain costumes were too revealing. Others questioned her live performance abilities, accusing the actress of relying heavily on lip-syncing during the show.
A number of netizens pointed to moments where her mouth movements allegedly failed to match the backing track, leading to complaints from concertgoers who said they expected stronger live vocals considering the ticket prices.
Criticism toward Zhao Lusi has remained intense ever since her health crisis at the end of 2024.
At the time, the actress shocked fans after being hospitalized with severe physical symptoms that reportedly affected her speech, movement and ability to hold objects normally.
