Speculation about a potential romance between Zhang Yuan and Wang Feifei — better known to K-pop fans as Fei of miss A — has taken over Chinese social media. However, the Chinese idol has now personally addressed the rumors.

During the latest season of the hit variety show Call Me by Fire, Zhang Yuan and Fei captivated audiences with their effortless chemistry on stage. Their interactions quickly led fans to speculate that the pair’s connection might extend beyond the screen, sparking a wave of dating rumors across Weibo and other online platforms.

Zhang Yuan, known for his work as a member of the Mandopop boy group Top Combine, has recently gained renewed popularity through the show. Meanwhile, Fei — who rose to fame as a member of JYP Entertainment’s miss A before launching a solo career — has become one of the most recognizable Chinese artists with roots in K-pop.

When asked about his rumored relationship with Fei, Zhang Yuan addressed the topic directly but lightheartedly:
“Whether you want to ship us or not, that’s up to you,” he said with a smile. “It’s just part of the stage concept.”
He went on to praise Fei’s professionalism and dedication, emphasizing that their chemistry is purely artistic and that they maintain a strong working relationship.
“Fei is an amazing performer. We just try to bring out the best in each other on stage,” he added.

Zhang Yuan also clarified that he is not currently pursuing a romantic relationship, noting that if he ever falls in love, he prefers to keep it private and low-key.
“Love should be something simple — between two people, not the whole world,” he said.
His comments resonated with fans, many of whom expressed admiration for his maturity and professionalism.
While some netizens were disappointed that there’s nothing romantic between the two stars, others praised Zhang Yuan for his honesty. Fei’s fans also appreciated his respectful tone, highlighting how he handled the speculation with grace rather than sensationalism.
“They have such good chemistry — even if it’s just acting, it feels real!” one fan wrote.
“I respect how he drew the line without being rude. That’s what a gentleman does,” another commented.
